What Happens When You Receive a New Booking
Understand the steps that occur after a new reservation is received and what hosts should verify before considering the booking fully ready for operations.
A new booking can come from a connected OTA, Homeyhuts or an offline source entered manually. The exact flow depends on the booking source, but the host's responsibility is the same: make sure the reservation is recorded correctly and the inventory is protected.
For a booking received through a connected OTA:
1. The guest completes the booking on the OTA.
2. The OTA confirms the reservation.
3. Reservation information is sent through the integration.
4. Homeyhuts receives the booking information.
5. The relevant reservation is reflected in Homeyhuts.
6. The booked inventory is blocked according to the Channel Manager setup.
7. Connected channels receive the updated availability.
For a manual booking:
1. The host receives the booking outside the automated OTA flow.
2. The host enters the reservation into Homeyhuts.
3. The booked inventory is blocked.
4. Connected channel availability should be checked after the update.
- What the host should check:
- Correct property.
- Correct room/inventory.
- Guest name and contact information.
- Check-in and check-out dates.
- Number of guests.
- Booking source.
- Reservation status.
- Booking amount or payment information where applicable.
- Calendar availability.
Example:
A guest books a weekend through an OTA. Once the reservation reaches Homeyhuts, check the reservation and calendar to make sure the correct inventory has been blocked. This is especially important for properties with multiple rooms or complex inventory setups.
Tip: A booking should not be considered operationally complete until the reservation details and calendar availability have been checked.
