How to Cancel an Offline Booking
Learn how to cancel a manually created reservation while making sure the correct dates become available again.
Offline bookings may need to be cancelled because a guest changes plans, a direct booking is withdrawn or the host and guest agree to a cancellation.
When cancelling a manual booking, update the reservation rather than simply deleting information without checking the calendar. The goal is to ensure that the reservation status and property availability remain accurate.
- Before cancelling:
- Confirm the cancellation with the guest.
- Check the applicable cancellation terms.
- Determine whether a refund or cancellation charge applies.
- Confirm which dates will become available.
How to handle the cancellation:
1. Open the relevant reservation in Homeyhuts.
2. Identify the manual/offline booking.
3. Review the reservation details.
4. Change the booking status according to the available cancellation option.
5. Save the update.
6. Check the Unified Calendar.
7. Confirm that the previously occupied dates are available again if they should be.
8. If the property is connected to OTAs, verify that the newly available inventory has synced correctly.
Example:
A direct booking for 20–22 December is cancelled. After updating the reservation, check that 20–22 December are no longer unnecessarily blocked. Those dates can then be offered to other guests.
Important:
Cancelling a booking in Homeyhuts does not automatically determine the financial settlement with a direct guest. Any refund, cancellation charge or deposit adjustment should be handled according to the booking terms agreed with the guest.
Tip: Always check the calendar after a cancellation. A cancelled reservation that remains as a block can prevent otherwise sellable dates from being booked.
