How Manual Bookings Affect Your Calendar
Understand how manually added reservations change your property's availability and why they should be entered accurately.
A manual booking represents inventory that has already been sold or reserved outside an automated OTA booking flow. Once it is added to Homeyhuts, the corresponding dates should be treated as unavailable for another guest.
The main purpose is to keep your calendar aligned with reality. If a property is occupied by a direct guest but the calendar still shows those dates as available, another guest may be able to book the same inventory through a connected OTA.
- What happens when you add a manual booking:
- The reservation is recorded in Homeyhuts.
- The relevant dates become occupied according to the booking details.
- The Unified Calendar reflects the reservation.
- Connected channel availability can be updated according to your Channel Manager setup.
Example:
Your villa receives a direct booking from 15–17 November. You enter the reservation manually. The dates should no longer be treated as open inventory for another OTA guest.
Things to check:
1. Correct property.
2. Correct room or inventory.
3. Correct check-in date.
4. Correct check-out date.
5. Correct number of guests.
6. Correct reservation status.
If the dates still appear available after creating the booking, do not assume the update has worked. Refresh the calendar and check the Channel Manager connection and mapping.
Tip: Manual bookings are just as important as OTA bookings from an availability perspective. The source may be different, but the inventory still needs to be protected.
