Understanding OTA Bookings vs Manual Bookings
Understand the difference between bookings received from connected OTAs and reservations that you add manually in Homeyhuts.
Homeyhuts can contain reservations received through connected booking platforms as well as bookings that are entered manually by the host.
OTA bookings are reservations made by guests through a connected online travel platform. When the integration is working correctly, the reservation is received by Homeyhuts and the relevant availability is updated.
Manual bookings are reservations entered by the host or team directly into Homeyhuts. These can be useful for direct bookings, walk-ins, phone bookings, bookings received through another source, or other reservations that are not automatically delivered through an OTA connection.
OTA booking:
• Guest books through a connected OTA.
• Reservation information is received through the integration.
• Availability can be updated across connected channels according to the Channel Manager setup.
Manual booking:
• Host or staff enters the reservation.
• Useful for offline or direct reservations.
• The dates should be entered accurately to prevent conflicting availability.
How to handle a manual booking:
1. Open the relevant reservation/calendar area.
2. Select the property and dates.
3. Enter the guest and stay information.
4. Save the booking.
5. Check that the dates are blocked appropriately across connected channels.
Tip: Always enter offline bookings promptly. Delayed manual updates can increase the risk of double bookings.
