How to Handle Stay Extensions
Learn how to manage a guest's request to extend their stay while keeping your availability accurate.
A stay extension changes the original reservation dates and can affect future bookings. Before confirming an extension, always check whether the requested additional dates are available.
Recommended process:
1. Check the guest's existing reservation.
2. Confirm the requested new check-out date.
3. Check availability for the additional nights.
4. Confirm that there is no overlapping reservation.
5. Update the reservation through the appropriate booking platform or process.
6. Verify that the updated dates are reflected correctly in Homeyhuts.
7. Check connected OTA availability after the change.
If the original booking came through an OTA, the safest approach is generally to make the required reservation change through the platform's supported modification process rather than creating a separate booking for the extra nights.
Example:
A guest booked from 10 to 12 October and wants to stay until 14 October. Before agreeing, check 12–14 October availability and confirm the revised reservation is updated correctly.
Important:
Never assume that a date is available simply because it looks free in one system. Check the connected reservation data before confirming an extension.
Tip: After extending a stay, verify both the reservation dates and the calendar blocks to make sure the extra nights are protected from new bookings.
