How to Identify Low-Demand Dates

1 min readUpdated 14 Oct 2026Reviewed by Homeyhuts Editorial Team

Learn how to identify dates that are likely to have weaker demand so you can make targeted pricing and availability decisions. Low-demand dates are not always obvious. A weekday may be low demand during one season but highly sought after during another.

What to Review

Look at:

  • Historical occupancy.
  • Upcoming occupancy.
  • Booking pace.
  • Number of enquiries.
  • Competitor availability.
  • Competitor pricing.
  • Weekday versus weekend patterns.
  • Seasonality.
  • Local events.
  • Previous performance for similar dates.

Using Your Calendar

Review your upcoming calendar regularly and look for long stretches of unbooked dates. Compare those dates with your property's usual booking pattern.

If a weekend is normally strong but remains empty close to the stay date, investigate whether demand, pricing or restrictions have changed.

Tip

Do not assume an empty date is automatically low demand. First check whether a minimum stay, advance notice rule or other restriction is preventing guests from booking.
