Your First Booking: What Happens Next?
Understand what to do after receiving your first reservation, from confirmation and guest communication to property preparation.
Your first booking can feel overwhelming, but following a simple process makes it manageable.
Step 1: Confirm the reservation
Check the property, room, dates, guest count and booking source.
Step 2: Check the calendar
Make sure the correct inventory is blocked and no conflicting reservation exists.
Step 3: Review guest information
Check the available guest details and any booking notes.
Step 4: Prepare the property
Schedule cleaning, linen changes, supplies and maintenance.
Step 5: Communicate check-in information
Send the guest the relevant arrival instructions at the appropriate time.
Step 6: Coordinate with the caretaker
Make sure the person responsible for the property knows the arrival date and expected guest count.
Step 7: Prepare for checkout
Know the departure date and plan housekeeping for the next stay.
After the stay:
Request or encourage feedback where appropriate and record any operational lessons.
