Is Your Property Ready for Short-Term Hosting?
Use this guide to assess whether your property, operations and guest experience are ready before you start accepting short-term stays.
Short-term hosting is more than putting a property online. Guests expect the property to be safe, clean, accurately described and ready for the experience promised in the listing.
Before going live, review the property from a guest's perspective.
- What to check:
- The property is clean, maintained and safe.
- Essential utilities such as electricity, water and internet are working.
- Beds, bathrooms and common areas are ready for guests.
- The property has the amenities promised in the listing.
- Check-in and check-out arrangements are clear.
- A reliable person is available to handle guest needs.
- Pricing and availability have been decided.
- Property photographs accurately represent the current condition.
- Required identification, registration, tax or local compliance requirements have been reviewed.
Operational readiness:
You should also know who will handle housekeeping, guest communication, maintenance, emergencies and check-ins.
Financial readiness:
Set a realistic nightly rate and understand your expected costs, OTA commissions, Homeyhuts fees where applicable, taxes and other operating expenses.
Example:
A beautiful villa may look ready online, but if there is no reliable housekeeping arrangement or guests cannot access the property independently, the property is not operationally ready.
Tip: Do a complete guest journey before going live, imagine arriving, checking in, staying overnight and checking out. Fix every point that could create friction.
