Managing Consumables & Essential Supplies
Learn how to maintain the stock of guest essentials and avoid running out during a stay.
Consumables are items that guests use and that need to be replenished regularly.
- Common examples:
- Toilet paper.
- Handwash.
- Toiletries.
- Cleaning products.
- Drinking water.
- Kitchen supplies.
- Garbage bags.
- Laundry supplies.
- Basic guest supplies.
Create minimum stock levels for each property. When inventory reaches the minimum level, reorder rather than waiting until it is completely finished.
A simple process:
1. List recurring consumables.
2. Set a minimum stock level.
3. Count stock during regular inspections.
4. Record purchases.
5. Store backup stock appropriately.
6. Replenish the property after each stay.
7. Review monthly consumption.
Example:
If a property normally uses 20 bottles of water per week, maintain enough reserve stock to cover unexpected occupancy changes.
Tip: Track consumption by property so you can identify unusually high usage or unnecessary purchasing.
