How to Prepare Your Property Between Stays
Follow a consistent turnover process so the property is clean, stocked, inspected and ready for the next guest.
The period between checkout and the next check-in is the property's reset window. A standard turnover process reduces missed tasks.
Turnover checklist:
1. Confirm the previous guest has checked out.
2. Inspect the property for damage or missing items.
3. Remove used linen and towels.
4. Clean bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and common areas.
5. Replace linen and towels.
6. Restock toiletries and consumables.
7. Test essential utilities and appliances.
8. Remove waste.
9. Check outdoor areas where applicable.
10. Confirm the property is locked and ready.
11. Update the team that the property is ready.
If damage is discovered, document it with photographs and record the issue before repairing it.
Example:
If the next guest arrives the same evening, prioritise the turnover checklist and use a final inspection before marking the property ready.
Tip: Do not treat cleaning as the only turnover task. Inspection, restocking and maintenance checks are equally important.
