Understanding Minimum Stay Restrictions
Learn what minimum stay restrictions mean, when to use them, and how they can affect the dates guests are able to book on Homeyhuts. A minimum stay restriction sets the minimum number of nights a guest must book for selected dates. For example, if you set a 2-night minimum, a guest cannot book only one night during that period. Minimum stay restrictions are useful when you want to reduce frequent check-ins and check-outs, encourage longer stays, or manage high-demand periods such as weekends, festivals and holidays.
How Minimum Stay Restrictions Work
A minimum stay rule applies to the booking dates where the restriction has been set. If a guest searches for a stay that does not meet the required number of nights, the booking may not be allowed for that combination of dates.
For example:
1-night minimum = guests can book one night or more.
2-night minimum = guests must book at least two nights.
3-night minimum = guests must book at least three nights.
This means a date can still appear available while a particular booking request is not allowed because it does not meet the minimum-night requirement.
When Should You Use a Minimum Stay?
Consider using minimum stay restrictions when:
You receive strong weekend demand and want to encourage 2-night stays.
A festival or holiday creates demand for multiple nights.
Frequent one-night bookings create high cleaning or operational costs.
You want to improve the value of longer reservations.
Tip
Do not keep a high minimum stay across your entire calendar without reviewing demand. During low-demand periods, a lower minimum stay can help you capture bookings that might otherwise be lost
