Track and manage your property expenses with Homeyhuts. Record spending, organise expenses, and view your property's earnings, total expenses, and net income through a property-wise Profit & Loss (P&L) statement all in one place.
Managing a homestay or vacation rental involves more than just tracking bookings and revenue. Keeping track of expenses and understanding how much your property earns after expenses is equally important.
With Homeyhuts Expense Tracking, you can record and manage your property-related expenses, monitor your earnings, and view a Property-wise Profit & Loss (P&L) statement to get a clearer picture of your property's financial performance.
Whether you manage one property or multiple properties, you can access your financial information in one place.
1. Overview of the Expenses Dashboard
The Expenses Dashboard gives you an overview of the expenses recorded across your properties.
You can access it directly from your main dashboard or navigate to the Expenses section.
From here, you can:
- View expenses across all your properties or filter them property-wise.
- Track your total spending for a selected period.
- View a category-wise breakdown of your expenses.
- Check the number of expenses recorded and the properties associated with them.
- Filter monthly recurring expenses to track regular payments.
- Download expense data based on your selected filters.
This makes it easier to organise your expenses and keep track of your property-related spending.
2. View Your Property's Profit & Loss (P&L) Statement
Homeyhuts also provides a Property-wise Profit & Loss (P&L) statement to help you understand your property's financial performance.
The statement gives you an overview of:
- Total Earnings: How much your property has earned.
- Total Expenses: How much you've spent on managing the property.
- Net Income: The amount remaining after deducting expenses from earnings.
This helps you understand how your property is performing financially and gives you a clearer picture of your income and spending.
You can view this information for individual properties to understand their financial performance.
3. How to Add an Expense
To record a new expense, click on the Add Expense button from your dashboard or navigate to the Expenses section.
Let's go through the different fields.
Step 1: Select a Property
Select the property for which you want to record the expense.
This helps you maintain separate expense records for each property.
Step 2: Select the Expense Date
Choose the date on which the expense was incurred.
Make sure the date is correct so that your expense records remain accurate.
Step 3: Select an Expense Category
Choose the category that best describes the expense.
This helps you organise your spending and understand where your money is being spent.
Step 4: Add Expense Type and Amount
Select the relevant expense type and enter the amount.
If you have multiple expenses for the same category, property, and date, click on Add Another Type to enter additional expense details.
Step 5: Select Payment Mode
Choose the payment mode used for the expense.
Available options include:
- Cash
- UPI
- Bank Transfer
- Card
- Cheque
Step 6: Set Up Recurring Expenses
If the expense repeats every month, enable the Repeat Every Month option.
This is useful for regular expenses that you want to track consistently.
For one-time expenses, leave this option turned off.
Step 7: Upload Supporting Documents
You can upload supporting documents such as bills, invoices, and receipts.
You can upload up to 10 files, with a maximum file size of 10 MB per file.
These documents help you maintain organised records for future reference.
4. Save and Manage Your Expenses
Once you've entered all the required details, review the information and click Save.
Your expense will now appear in the Expenses Dashboard.
You can also:
- Expand an expense entry to view additional details.
- Edit an expense to update its information.
- Delete an expense if it was added by mistake.
This helps you keep your expense records accurate and up to date.
5. Search, Filter, and Download Expense Records
The Expenses Dashboard allows you to organise and review your records with ease.
You can:
- Filter expenses by property.
- View expenses across all your properties.
